1 a.Timeline of activities covering the period of July 1, 2025 to June 30, 2026 i.Planning, including planning meetings, artist selection, marketing, etc. Wed. 7/2/25 Director confirms schedule with partner organizations and teaching artists individually. Thurs. 7/3/25 Marketing, posters etc. designed, ordered Mon 7/7/25 Online marketing sent Tues 7/8/25 general planning meeting: Director and both teaching artists Wed. 7/9 materials/supplies ordered Thurs. 7/10 meeting/discussion with partner organizations on class space set-up and outreach/sign-up with student-artists Week of 7/14-18, first class session begins, student-artists selected/confirmed Mon 7/21/25 Progress Meeting with Director and both teaching artists to assess class launch and identify actions needed. ii.Project activities, including number and length of days 7/15-17 Bayonne and Jersey City programs start: goals of class discussed with students, art concepts identified, 7/16- 8/6/25 Jersey City class session 1 (4 class days-all JC classes are 1.5 hrs) activities: 1. introduction of material and Techniques Glazes, blending, Mixing, texture 7/17-8/14/25 Bayonne class: introduction to concepts and materials, art history models(5, 2hr classes) 9/10 - 10/8/25 Jersey City class session 2 (5 class days, @1.5 hrs) activities 2. working with materials learning how to paint learning color, color wheel, Monochromatic , Analogous , still life painting 9/11-11/20/25 Bayonne class resumes, focus on skill development. Experimenting with media and technique. (11, 2hr classes) 11/5- 12/10/25 Jersey City class session 3 (5 class days, @1.5 hrs) activities 3. Subject matter: illustration and placement of images on canvas, learning to paint what we see and tell a story, continue still life project 12/4-18/25 Bayonne class resumes: focus on concept/idea development, and pictorialization (3, 2hr classes) 1/7- 2/4/26 Jersey City class session 4 (5 class days, @1.5 hrs) activities: 4. working with subject matter telling a story learning how to refine your technique choosing meaningful and personal subjects to paint 1/8-4/2/26 Bayonne class resumes: focus on developing imagery, in sketch and final format (13 2 hr classes) 3/4- 4/8/26 Jersey City class session 5 (5 class days, @1.5 hrs) activities: 5. Selecting subject matter and design for a final project, focusing on a style and inventiveness of technique. 4/16-6/18/26 Bayonne class resumes: focus on creating finished works based on a theme or concept in a specific media, (10, 2 hr classes) 5/6 - 6/10/26 Jersey City class session 6 (5 class days, @1.5 hrs) activities: 6. continue working on final project learning to create, stylize and inventiveness of technique Final critique of projects and progress from first project to final project iii.Evaluation/assessment 8/8/25, 10/10/25, 12/12/25, 2/6/26, 4/10/25,general assessment discussions/progress report/supply check: Director and both teachers 6/12/26- Year-end assessment and evaluation/review of artworks. EVALUATION RUBRIC YEAR 1 Poor 5 pts Fair 10 pts Good 15 pts Excellent 20 pts IncorporatePrinciples of Design Poor The student did not consider what had been taught about the Principles of Design in their layout or design of the artwork. Fair The student considered the Principles of Design but was executed poorly. Good The students used some knowledge of the Principles of Design, but not quite as effectively as they could have. Excellent The students incorporated what they have learned about layout and design through using the Principles of Design correctly. Elements of Art Poor The student did not consider what had been taught about the Elements of Art in their layout or design of the artwork. Fair The students considered the Elements of Art, but was executed poorly. Good The students used some knowledge of the Elements of Art, but not quite as effectively as they could have. Excellent The students incorporated what they have learned about layout and design through using the Elements of Art correctly. Craftmanship Poor The work was poor, possibly sloppy and time was not used wisely. More attention to detail should have been used. Fair The work was fair. Time may not have been used well. The piece of artwork may have looked unfinished. Good The work was good, but the student could have used their time more wisely and paid more attention to the details. Excellent The student took their time and did excellent work. The student paid good attention to detail. Creativity Poor The student did not get very creative. Fair There was some creativity there, but more could have been done. Good The student started to push outside the box and come up with a creative solution to the assignment. Excellent The student was very creative, thought outside the box, but still incorporated the point of the assignment. Use of Material Poor Students did not clean up after themselves or mistreated the materials. Fair Students did not quite handle the materials in the way they were taught. Good Students used the materials correctly but could have used them better. Excellent Students followed the directions given with the materials, and used them effectively in their artwork. iv.Documentation/Presentation Ongoing documentation of artwork is part of most class sessions. Demonstrations of materials and techniques and exposure to painting styles for development of painting skills 12/3-17/26 Bayonne class resumes: activities: continue series of works plus #3 above (3, 2hr classes) 1/6- 2/3/26 Jersey City class session 4 (5 class days, @1.5 hrs) activities: 4.create paintings of your own subject matter whether with photographs, personal drawing, or a portrait sitting 1/7- 4/1/26 Bayonne class resumes: #4 above (13 2 hr classes) 3/3- 4/7/26 Jersey City class session 5 (5 class days, @1.5 hrs) activities: 5. receive feedback and one on one art instruction according to your painting style 4/15- 6/17/26 Bayonne class resumes: activities: #5 and #6, (10, 2 hr classes) 5/5 - 6/9/26 Jersey City class session 6 (5 class days, @1.5 hrs) activities: 6. EVALUATION RUBRIC YEAR 2 Measures the success of paint application and illustration. Shows student understanding of the project and original ideas in drawing and painting. Shows inventiveness in the illustrations and painting techniques. Oil Painting Canvas illustration and year painting Instruction & Concepts Level of understanding about instructions and concepts (elements and principles of art) used in project. Was able to properly apply medium. Level 4+ The artwork is planned carefully; an advanced understanding of all concepts and instructions is clearly demonstrated. Level 4 The artwork is planned carefully; a basic understanding of all concepts and instructions is demonstrated. Level 3 The planning is satisfactory; understanding of some concepts and instructions demonstrated. Level 2 The artwork shows little evidence of understanding the concepts and instructions. Level 1 The student did the minimum or the artwork was never fully completed. Craftsmanship/ Skill Shows control and experimentation over the medium. Gallery ready. Level 4+ Application is done in a logical, sequential manner,with clear attention to control and experimentation. Level 4 Paint is applied in a careful, logical manner, with control over colors and implied textures. Level 3 The artwork shows average craftsmanship. control is somewhat lacking, no evidence of refinement. Level 2 The artwork shows minimal craftsmanship and control of paint. Colors are muddy and edges are ragged; no attention to texture. Level 1 The artwork shows no craftsmanship and no attention to control and experimentation with the medium. Creativity/ Originality Inventiveness, expression of ideas and original style portrayed in the piece. Level 4+ The artwork demonstrates original personal expression and outstanding problem solving skills. Level 4 The artwork demonstrates some personal expression and logical problem solving skills. Level 3 The artwork demonstrates an average amount of personal expression. Level 2 The artwork demonstrates little personal expression or problem solving skills. Level 1 The artwork lacks evidence of personal expression and an absense of problem solving skills. Effort Work ethic; time dedicated to the project inside and/or out of class. Creative problem solving demonstrated when working through the creative process. Project turned in on time. Level 4+ The student put forth extraordinary effort beyond the requirements to complete the project; used class time extremely well. Level 4 The student's completed work is above average, yet more could have been done; used class time well. Level 3 The student put forth the effort required to finish the project, but it lacks refinement; used class time adequately. Level 2 The student put forth little effort to finish the project; class time was not used well. Level 1 The student did not finish their work in a satisfactory manner; class time was not used well. iv.Documentation/Presentation Ongoing documentation of artwork is part of most class sessions.
