We are currently taking submissions for Prayers for the Pandemic; Prayers for Progress;
Prayers for the Planet; Prayers for the Presidency, a worldwide public art project,  from artists living locally, nationally, and around the world.

Our gallery, Drawing Rooms, in Jersey City, NJ, has been closed to the public since 3/16/20, due to the coronavirus pandemic. George Floyd was murdered on Memorial Day, and people of all races, all over the world, have been raising their voices in support of the Black Lives Matter Movement to fight  against racial injustice and inequality. The tragic fires in California, Oregon and Washington which began in July, remind us that the effects of climate change are real and have dire consequences. And in addition to all these issues, the upcoming election is of great concern.

Prayers for the Pandemic; Prayers for Progress; Prayers for the Planet; Prayers for the Presidency, is a show that draws inspiration from Tibetan prayer flags  (learn more about prayer flags here) that are generally made of colorful rectangular cloth strung along trails and peaks high in the Himalayas. The flags are used to bless the surrounding area in which they are placed.

Our goal is for you to flood the world with your prayer flags and we will create an inclusive online show of images of the flags which will be posted on our website, Fb and Instagram. We will also be creating an online and print catalog, and we ultimately want Prayers for the Pandemic; Prayers for Progress;
Prayers for the Planet; Prayers for the Presidency, to become the exhibit which reopens our gallery when restrictions are lifted. Prayers for the Pandemic; Prayers for Progress; Prayers for the Planet; Prayers for the Presidency, will reach thousands of people locally, nationally, and around the world.

We Invite You To
1. MAKE IT. Make your own version of a prayer flag (composed of one or many panels) incorporating imagery and/or text out of fabric/textiles, paper, canvas, actually, any material is acceptable using any media. (The image above is an example of a prayer flag. Yours is not expected to look just like it.)
Remember, the flags are sending karmic prayers, so please keep them as positive as possible.
2. HANG IT. This is a public art project. Hang your flag from inside your apt or home window or car window, or a tree in the park, or secure it onto a building, on your lawn, your car, etc. Be creative! People outside your home and studio must be able to see your flag and it should remain on site for as long as possible.
3. CLICK IT. Take a picture of your flag(s) on one or more of the sites you've place it in (in the window, on the building, etc) and send it to us!

CURATION
Images will be selected by Drawing Rooms Curator for all promotions, the online exhibition, catalog(s), and gallery exhibit.
