Aliza Augustine Artist Bio & Statement
Israeli born, educated in the US, Augustine is a Rhode Island School of Design graduate with a BFA in painting. She attended a Residency in Photography at the School of Visual Arts in 2006. A finalist in “Women Seen By Women” Her work will be in Barcelona & Prague this year and is in The Photo Review 2017 Competition Publication & Online Exhibition.
Augustine’s work was on view at The Whitney Biennial as part of “Debtfair” 2017. In 2015, she received a 7th Edition 2015 Julia Cameron Award for Documentary and Editorial Photography. Solo & two-person shows include; The Bernstein Gallery, Princeton’s Woodrow Wilson Institute, Kean University’s Human Rights Gallery, The Monmouth Museum & The Mary H. Dana Women Artists Series at Rutgers University. She has spoken about her work during these exhibitions.
In 2012 and 2016 her work received grants from the Puffin Foundation. Awards include: 2017 Photo Review Competition, 2017 Silver Award Tokyo Foto Awards, 2015 Winner: Documentary and Editorial: The 7th Edition of The Julia Margaret Cameron Award for Women Photographers.
