THE BIG SMALL SHOW
, 12/12/15 - 2/6/16

Artist Reception and Fundraiser Gala:
Saturday, 12/12/15, 6-9pm
Workshop/Talk: Sunday 1/24/16, Sunday 1/21/16, and Saturday 2/6/16, 3-5pm

THE BIG SMALL SHOW, curated by Anne Trauben, features almost 80 artists showing small painting, drawing and 3Dimensional works. It's an evening of art, music, dance, wine, food and a silent auction and a few hundred people are expected to attend the event. Musicians for the evening include Jueriga Americana, featuring Marc Sloan on guitar-vocals with Carmen Arrojo on percussion and Flamenco Performance and dance with Klaus Jekeli and Natalia Brava dance Jared Neuman on guitar. This Gala Fundraiser event marks a return for the arts non-profit organization to their original Victory Hall location at 180 Grand for the occasion, in conjunction with the new exhibit at their DRAWING ROOMS Arts Center location next door. Affordable original artworks from many area artists will be up for Silent Auction at the event. It’s a great opportunity to own a work of original art, find a special holiday present and support Jersey City Arts.

This is the third annual BIG SMALL SHOW at DRAWING ROOMS. Our biggest exhibit of 2015 includes 80 artists from the NY/NJ metropolitan area. Our goal is to create a show with a large array of innovative and exceptional new paintings, drawings and 3-dimensional works to produce an exhibition that surveys recent art in our area. For THE BIG SMALL SHOW we make full use of our multi-gallery room format to gather a group of small works from each artist, grouping them in context together with one another, creating visual, formal and conceptual connections, amplifying themes and deepening ways of understanding the works. Curator Anne Trauben has connected with many artists new to us for this exhibition along with artists who are part of our year-round community. Many of the artists in the show as well as other artists invited from the community have donated a work to the art auction that accompanies the exhibit.

Artists in THE BIG SMALL SHOW 2015 include:
Agnes de Bethune, Alberte Bernier, Andra Samelson, Anne Trauben, Barbara Lubliner, Beatrice Mady, Ben Pranger, Beth Dary, Bill Stamos, Bruce Halpin, Bruno Nadalin, Candy le Sueur, Carol Radsprecher, Catherine Haggerty, Cheryl Gross, Claire McConaughy, Dana Kane, Dasha Bazanova, Deirdre Kennedy, Diane Englander, Diane Tenerelli-June, Dora Tomulic, Doug Madill, Eileen Ferara, Eileen Hoffman, Elaine Hansen, Eliot Markell, Elizabeth Reagh, Elizabeth Riley, Ellen Hackl Fagan, Ellie Murphy, Emily Barnett, Emily Berger, Fran Shalom, Heidi Curko, Ibou Ndoye, Injoo Whang, Jaynie Crimmins, Jeanne Brasile, Jeanne Heifitz, Jennifer Krause Chapeau, Jessica Lenard, Jill Slaymaker, Joan Mellon, Jodie Fink, Karen Nielsen-Fried, Kathy Cantwell, Kevin McCaffrey, Leslie Kirby, Lily Prince, Liz Jaff, Maggie Ens, Manuel Macarrulla, Marcy Rosenblat, Margaret Neill, Margaret Withers, Marsha Goldberg, Megan Klim, Mona Brody, Muriel Favaro, Pamela Shipley, Robin Feld, Roger Sayre, Russell Christian, Sandy DeSando, Steve Singer, Suzan Shutan, Sylvia Schwartz, Tamar Zinn, Tenesh Weber, Theresa DeSalvio, Tim Daly, Tim Heins, Todd Lehman, Tom O’Flynn, Valerie Huhn, Winifred McNeill.
