Drawing Rooms presents The Big Small Show 2023, featuring nearly 450 works by 140 artists!

Now in its eighth year at Drawing Rooms, The Big Small Show 2023 (our biggest Big Small Show yet) includes multiple pieces by each artist in our expanded gallery space: The Terrarium Gallery and The Alcove Gallery at Drawing Rooms.

In the exhibit, we gathered together a large array of innovative and exceptional works made in the last two years to produce an exciting survey show. The Curator chose a small group of each artist’s works and placed them in context together with the other works in our gallery room format to create visual, formal and conceptual connections, amplifying themes and deepening ways of understanding the works.

The focus of this year’s show is Works on Paper encompassing all types of drawing in various media including pencil, ink, pastel and paint, etc. In addition to artists using paint as a drawing media, artists made paintings on paper, collage, photographs, digital imagery, prints and three dimensional works. Range of styles and themes included caricature, realism, abstraction, minimalism, narrative, nature, geometry and portraiture.
We hope you enjoy the show!
