Sunday, 8/11/19, 3p: Artists Talks with Caroline Burton, Lee Arnold and Katrina Bello
Katrina Bello will talk about the narratives and experiences that informed her decision to chose drawing, size and scale to convey personal memory, migration, family and the Pacific Ocean.
Caroline K Burton will discuss her wall works and their relationship to the women who raised her, the bronze works that are influenced by her father, and the hydrocal sculptures that relate to the experience of insomnia.
Lee Arnold will speak about the continuously looped videos in the exhibit in which constructions build layer by layer, engaging elemental concepts of scale, repetition, color and sound, and morph into abstracted landscapes and imagined worlds.
Free as always, refreshments provided.

Join us to hear Jeri speak about her work. According to Jeri, "photography and memory are so intertwined it is somehow hard to realize that photographs can lie, memories can be replaced and stories change."

Newark-based writer, Hayley Mojica will be reading a personal narrative about the experience of negotiating memory in dreamscapes.
Performance by Jin Jung
JC artist Jin Jung’s presents her performance Embody: To Give a Body to a Spirit
Jin invites participants to help create and share ephemeral souvenirs. During the participation, Jung’s “embodied” objects will change shape to bring form to breath and sound before disappearing in seconds.
Discussion by Peter Delman (with Exhibition Director Anne Trauben)
JC artist, educator, curator and writer Peter Delman, who reviewed Just Beneath the Surface for Nieuw Art Blog, will be in conversation with Exhibitions Director, Anne Trauben.
