OVERVIEW
Drawing Rooms invites artists to submit proposals for temporary site-specific public art projects. Artists will be selected to create and install a public art project, or develop a socially engaged project that will be worked on and installed at the same library site. Artists must be able to be onsite to install, deinstall, and adjust artworks as needed. Music and/or poetry will be at each site on specific event opening dates. In your site-specific proposal below, please consider the history of the library site and
surrounding area.
SITES
Artworks are to be installed outside each of the library branches listed below (see Site List below). The works can be attached or projected onto the building, fencing or windows, or placed on the grounds.
Artists are encouraged to explore the library sites through the information provided, and visit the sites themselves to choose a specific library and method of installation.

PROJECT TYPES
MEDIA
All media will be considered including sculpture, experiential/interactive art, sound, projection, light installations, etc.
COMPENSATION/OWNERSHIP
Artists will be awarded $250. Artists will retain ownership of their piece.
INSTALLATION
Artists are responsible for transporting, installing artwork and removing artwork at the agreed upon dates. Installment One will be on view through the summer. Artwork will remain for the duration of the program and removed when it ends. Artwork should be made for outdoor weather, be durable and require no maintenance during the exhibition period.
IMPORTANT
All work must be suitable for outdoor NJ display during the dates of the program.
LIABILITY
Artists chosen and their artwork installations will be covered for liability (damage to people, public or property) by Victory Hall
Inc / Drawing Rooms.
SAFETY / SECURITY
Public works of art may be subject to wear and tear, or other loss and damage. The artwork will be considered temporary and is not insured against any of the aforementioned. The Libraries have security cameras and efforts will be made to care for the artwork, but neither Victory Hall Inc. nor the Jersey City Free Public Library can guarantee security for the artworks.

Notification to awardees: 6/10/22
Artist Acceptance/Commitment Received: 6/14/22
Payment to artists: 6/17/22

REVIEW PROCESS
The deadline for submission is June 5, 2022. All artists will be notified of the decision by June 10, 2021. Artists must confirm acceptance via email by June 14, 2022.
