Marianne DeAngelis Bio & Statement
Marianne DeAngelis explores color relationships and nuance in her abstract paintings. Her attention to the physicality of paint through layering, scraping, covering and revealing instills an acute awareness of history, time and space.
Marianne DeAngelis was born and raised in Astoria, Queens, New York. She earned a BA from New York University in Dramatic Literature, Cinema Studies and German. She later attended the School of Visual Arts and the Art Students League of New York. In
2008, she was awarded the Fantasy Fountain Fund Travel Scholarship to paint in Paris, France. In 2014, she became a Joan Mitchell Foundation Teaching Fellow, as well as a CALL Artist Legacy Specialist. DeAngelis has exhibited throughout New York and New
Jersey. She currently lives and works in northern New Jersey.
