The ocean of virtues in the incorporeal world. The world beyond the universe. The world of silence and bliss. The original home of all the souls. While we remember our creator in his home taking all the powers from him in our core stage. The soul in full form in his own home with his own father.

Monika Kalra  Artist Bio & Statement
Monika Kalra is an artist and designer of Indian origin. She grew up in New Delhi and currently lives in Jersey City, NJ. Hailing from the East, Monika’s work is dominated by a bright existence. This reflects in a vivid and bold colour pallet. Inspired from her fashion
pedigree creating haute couture with embellishments, her compositions often communicate drama via sculpted textures & patterns created through oil paint and raw brush strokes and smudges.

Being from a women’s fashion background, fabrics and textures, feminine emotions and aspirations have always captured Monika’s attention. The fashionable interpretation of exquisite and unique cultures she travelled and lived through is also reflected in her work
on artistic fashion label Monaara. She gives an Asian inspired, vibrant colour treatment to the contemporary western subjects.

Art is an expression of artist’s inner space reflecting to the outer world. Monika’s inner journey has been towards spiritual realization, guided by the Brahmakumaris, The World Spiritual University. Her guiding force stems from experiences of eternal energy
motivating her to express it with colours. The transformation of Monika’s inner world also reflects in the blend of her style of representational art with more that lies in realm of the abstract.

With her latest work on ‘Eternity’, she shares her inner journey. “On the inside, I see myself composed of brightness - a shining vibrant star in a long journey through bodies. In this journey, as I experience fellow beings, cultures, countries, I reflect upon the impressions & conversations with them. I have attempted observing the state of being and his relationship with ‘The Power’. The creation represents the journey towards realization inside the mind, meditating through stages and experiencing many blissful emotions along the way”

Through her work, Monika attempts to create vibrations of healing energy. She believes art is an impression of artist’s state of mind which is beyond the thoughts. She has created this artwork in a blissful and meditative state. Through bold strokes and intricate
colour composition, she expresses melting and merging of her style with aesthetics of free spiritedness. “This allows me to see unseen lanes, it is my journey of the inner world and reflecting through outer world.”, she says. With her artwork, she hopes to share the healing energy and take the viewer on a journey towards Eternity.

*A portion of proceeds from the exhibition will be donated to support the cause of Brahmakumaris. Brahmakumaris is a global organization that provides spiritual education and reflective practices for people from diverse cultural backgrounds, inspiring them to live according to their own higher nature and contributes towards a better world.
