Olga Nenazhivina Artist Bio & Statement
Russian–American artist Olga Nenazhivina creates boundless scenic chronicles of curiously fantastic people, flora and fauna with intensely detailed geometric ornamentation. Driven by a genuine enjoyment of the process, outcome, and feedback on her work, her visual aesthetics create a particular philosophical character.
Receiving her initial artistic training under her father, professional sculptor Valery Nenazhivin, and her art enthusiast mother, Nina Nenazhivina, her first studio was an old suitcase — here she found her pencils. Drawing on any surface she could find, her mother would help her to complete her artworks and her father would explain the composition within them.
Predominantly working with ink and paper, Olga has a deep affinity with her chosen materials and acquaints herself with each sheet to understand its capabilities. The images contained thereafter are born from a combination of observation, interpretation and curiosity. In other words, the images are a product of this world and establish a “thoughtform.”
Olga Nenazhivina received her Bachelor of Fine Arts from Vladivostok College for the Arts and her works have been extensively exhibited across the United States and internationally.
“My work is a friend and partner, it will “talk” to you, and you will discover new facets in it with each new sight.” — Olga Nenazhivina
