Roger Sayre Artist Bio & Statement
Roger Sayre came to Jersey City from Ohio and has been active as an artist, curator and teacher since the late 1990s. He curated his Brunswick Windows street exhibition space from 2001 to 2005, exhibiting 55 area artists. Roger is currently a professor at Pace University, NYC where he teaches photography and experimental photography. His inventive artwork engages concepts of science, motion, light and nature.
“Exploration, play, and a sense of wonder play important roles in my own work. Although I rarely use a traditional camera, much of my work deals with photographic concepts and/or materials.
I like my work to reveal itself to the viewer in layers: one’s perception of what they are seeing may change when one spends time with a piece.”
