Scot J. Wittman Artist Bio & Statement
Scot J. Wittman exhibits handcrafted works, photographs and full-scale installations internationally. With equal parts celebration and suspicion, Wittman’s artworks inspect vanguard technologies that give us reach beyond our fingertips– and considers how our desires for ourselves and each other shifts. Collaborating with modern dancers and bionano engineers alike, Wittman offers rare insight involving worlds of performance and productivity. One recent artwork was on display in the 2017 Whitney Biennial; it was featured in his TEDx Talk “From paralysis to muralist” – the TEDx Talk also features Jersey City talents!
From Fall to Spring he teaches all levels of photography at Rutgers Preparatory School, the First Independent School of New Jersey, where he is also the Chair of the Visual Art Department and Dean of all the Arts: Visual, Music, Drama and Dance.
